Sunseeker Launches new Superyacht Division and sells Flagship 161

Andrea Frabetti, Sunseeker’s CEO announced the launch of Sunseeker’s Superyacht Division, a distinctive range of yachts from 101 feet – 161 feet. The new division allows clients to grow through the range of superyachts with greater flexibility of design and layouts, built in either composite or metal.

Officially launched at the Monaco Yacht Show last September, the new superyacht division further strengthens Sunseeker’s superyacht category, which has already delivered 137 yachts over 100ft since 2000. This announcement is part of a major new product development plan for Sunseeker International which will see the entire range doubling in size to 22 models during the next three years. The majority of these will continue to be built in GRP while some in the Superyacht series will be built in aluminium.

Although designed predominantly in-house, Sunseeker will partner initially with two renowned shipyards, Pendennis in the UK and Icon in the Netherlands for two models within the range. These two partners have been chosen specifically for their expertise and proven history in this size range and capability to build in metal, where appropriate.

The new 133 (40.53m) yacht hull will be built in GRP by Sunseeker before transferring to Pendennis for completion.

The new 161 (48.35m yacht) built in aluminum— and which will be Sunseeker’s flagship—has been sold and will be built in its entirety at Icon’s facility in Harlingen, with naval architecture by Van Oossanen Naval Architects, exterior design by Sunseeker’s in-house team and interiors from the drawing boards of Design Unlimited. She is scheduled for delivery in 2021.

Sunseeker is investing £60 million CapEx ($77,323,500 US Dollars) over the next 3 years. With over 25 years of marine industry experience, Frabetti is focusing on extensive product development, working in close collaboration with Sunseeker’s in-house design department.
