FUTURE-E synthesizes the nautical, aeronautical and automotive industries to create a vehicle that flies on the waves supported by four foils with maximum sustainability. Four retractable wings that allow it, in combination with electric motors, to navigate in maximum comfort with minimum use of power. FUTURE-E is avant garde and built with eco-sustainable materials.

THE CONCEPT

FUTURE-E is an innovative proposal by Centrostiledesign, the creative company led by Davide Cipriani, for sustainable mobility on water. With FUTURE-E, as the name already summarizes, Centrostiledesign enters a futuristic nautical sector where the attention to sustainability, in terms of propulsion, construction materials and concept of use of the vehicle is combined with external and internal designs for ergonomics, comfort and livability. The use of foils as supports for the vessel improves navigation performance and minimizes friction with the water, allowing a limited use of power. The choice of electric propulsion makes FUTURE-E even more aimed to a de-carbonized future of the use of the sea.

THE SYSTEM

FUTUR-E combines the technology of the marine industry, automotive design and aeronautics with an integrated automotive-inspired kinematic system, similar to the suspension of Formula 1 cars. The kinematics in particular manages in synchrony, with electro-hydraulic actuators, the movement of the foils with independent dynamics, under the control of a single control unit, equipped with a gyroscope, which manages each element.

The mechanical kinematics is plug and play, it can be installed indifferently on one of the four foils supplied, it has no openings towards the inside of the hull, making maintenance accessible even when the boat is in the water. The handling is very similar to that of a comfortable sports car.

HIGH TECHNOLOGY

The foils and the hull have been tested and developed with simulations in a virtual naval test tank (CFD), where the physics and all the flow characteristics are checked. The Foil Integrated Kinematic System is able to simultaneously manage the opening of the foils and their pitch, the angle of incidence on the water.

An advanced six-degree gyroscopic system monitors boat performance at different speeds with the system managing a large force data matrix for each foil to monitor the vessel’s operating conditions.

DESIGN

You have seen flying cars in science fiction films, but you have not yet seen a flying motor boat. With a vision of avant-garde nautical design, the hull of the FUTUR-E – or rather the body – is designed in the style of a supercar. The foils are perfectly integrated into the FUTUR-E profile by limiting their bulk in the shape of its body. The shape of the foils also acts as a cradle for placing FUTUR-E on the deck of a superyacht or on any land surface. The futuristic interior can accommodate the pilot and three passengers. The dashboard is a perfectly successful combination of wraparound screens. All navigation and engine data are ergonomically under the pilot’s eyes.

ECHO

Its structure is made of carbon fiber produced from 100% recycled fiber with structural reinforcements in recycled foam. The foils and rudders are also made of carbon fiber. All elements are recyclable.

ZERO EMISSIONS

FUTUR-E is a zero-impact boat: zero CO2 emissions, zero noise, zero waves.

The electric propulsion does not generate any atmospheric pollution.

FUTUR-E’s foils that raise the hull above the water reduce waves, creating a very smooth ride helping to consume less energy and allowing you to travel on choppy waters with reduced drag, keeping the passenger cabin highly comfortable while also preventing seasickness.

The combination of the two systems, electric propulsion and foil, minimizes the navigation noise just by lapping on the hull.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY

FUTUR-E has a smooth, comfortable and stable ride which makes it much safer than normal boats.

FUTUR-E is surprisingly easy to drive and can sail at top speed even in rough seas.

In extreme conditions, the foils can be retracted, and the FUTUR-E can be used like a classic boat.

PROPULSION

There are two options for propulsion. Outboard or inboard engines coupled to surface propeller propulsion.

With the options of variable power packages, FUTUR-E can reach a maximum speed of over 30 knots.

As the speed of the boat increases, the foils begin to lift FUTUR-E, like a plane on a runway. When it reaches 8 knots, Foil Assisted mode starts and at 16 knots it enters Full Foiling mode, minimizing water resistance.

The foils and rudders provide a high response in the water, allowing you to maneuver like no other boat.

They are designed to provide self-stability, to ensure a very comfortable ride, minimizing the movement generated by the impact of the waves on the hull.
