Day 3: Nice

After a smooth and picturesque cruise west, make your way into the capital of the French Riviera, Nice. With a deep history, amazing food and historic architecture, Nice is the perfect place to dock for your third day in the French Riviera.

The Promenade des Anglais is the centre between sea, city and the vast sky. It is one of the most alluring seafronts in France. Stroll along the roadway lined with beside palms, blue chairs and joggers. Then take a photo of the famous “I Love Nice” sign before climbing the steps of Colline du Château where Nice was originally founded. It is perfect for enjoying the best view of the whole city. There is also a lovely waterfall which cascades down the rock face and sending out a nice cool water spray.

Now plunge into the Old Town, where its crowded streets are a combination of Italian and French architecture. We recommend visiting one of the various ice cream shops dotted around the old town and visiting L’Acchiardo for a classic Niçoise lunch. Another recommendation is visiting the renovated train station-now-food market of Gare de Sud. After lunch, make your way to the shops along Rue Paradis or the Avenue Jean Médécin for a bit of retail therapy.

In the evening, you have not experienced Nice until you have had cocktails in the world-famous Hôtel Le Negresco. Follow this by indulging in dinner at the hotel’s double-Michelin-star restaurant.

Sitting in between the city of Nice and glitzy Cannes, the town of Antibes is famous for her Port Vauban which is filled daily with super yachts and her maze-like Old Town. It is the second-largest town on the French Riviera and is neighboured by the beautiful Juan-les-Pins.

After entering the port from your tender, get lost strolling along the many winding streets of Antibes’ Old Town. You will find some lovely classic bistros which serve up classic Mediterranean dishes, which range from seafood to Italian-inspired pastas. We recommend making a reservation for the Michelin-starred and family-run “Bacon” on the Cap d’Antibes. The menu heavily features seafood, which it has famously been serving since the 1940s.

The Musée Picasso is a must for those out lovers out there. Housed in the castle itself, Pablo Picassos’ 245 paintings and sculptures are on display, along with works from contemporary artists like Nicolas de Staël, Fernand Léger and Joan Miro.

If you are looking for some late night fun, head to Sip Absinthe. This is a cave-like bar, where one wears one of the crazy hats found in the bars collections and has a huge selection of once-forbidden liqueur, which is served in the traditional fashion of including a silver spoon and a sugar cube. Don’t have too much though, as you will need to find your way back to your tender in the Port!

What better way to wrap up your week-long superyacht itinerary French Riviera than to visit St. Tropez? It has something for everyone, guaranteed. St Tropez is famous for its many beaches, so it is only polite to spend some time on them. Our 212 pick is Pampelonne, which actually put the town of St. Tropez on the map. After getting your tan on, you may be feeling a bit peckish. Why not treat yourself to some of France’s well-known culinary delights, such as the irresistible macaroon. St Tropez itself has a signature dessert that was first made in the 1950s. The Tarte Tropézienne is an essential little treat for those looking to “embrace the culture”.

If you are not shopped out already, St. Tropez has many fashion boutiques which are the top of the range and have some of the best designer clothes in the world today. But maybe you are the walking type? Take coastal route around St Tropez to find some truly spectacular and quite wild views. Admire the large seaside mansions, take in the moment and of course enjoy what France has to offer.

You will have worked up an appetite after all the walking, so it will be time for food. St Tropez is small, but it punches above its weight in terms of great places to eat. Club 55 is one of the most popular restaurants, with its name being known far and wide for providing the best quality food! St Tropez has a reputation of having great nightlife.
